Our goal is to achieve gradual social change by approaching social issues as a sustainable business, utilizing the "power of art to affect people's sensibilities".
In the summer of 2019, 10 Japanese photographers held the "Rwanda Happy Mother Project" fashion show in Kimihurira, Rwanda, featuring mothers living in slums.
The event was a great success. The mothers were very happy and some brought photos from those days years later. It was a great success as a festival.
But it was also a reality that no matter how many great pictures we took, no Rwandan could earn money.
Based on this experience, we started “Sharun-zoku” project with the hope that the children would become financially and spiritually independent.
We opened Brave EGGs Art Academy (BEAr), a school for training professional photographers, in Kimihurura in March 2022 using the proceeds from the project. Now seven students belong to the school.
Amababa Photography was started with the hope that students who had mastered basic photography techniques would gain more hands-on experience while meeting real clients and earning money.
